Rhetorical Situation
The rhetorical situation of my personal narrative focused on showing my audience who I am and how I became a Seminole through snippets of major events from my life. Each event revealed something new about me in a sense and how I dealt with adversity throughout my life to get to where I am today. Furthermore, I utilized the rhetoric that appealed to my audience’s emotions, pathos. I thought it was essential to use pathos because it’ll help my audience to imagine what each moment was like and what it felt like. In addition to the aforementioned, I also included detailed description of each instance with the inclusion how I felt or my thoughts through out each ordeal using italicized fonts.
The most notable feature of my personal narrative is the inclusion patois, my native dialect. All of the dialogue within my personal narrative was said in patois, which I translated so that it could be understood by my audience. However, some parts were left in patios because I thought translating everything would take away from my character; taking away a huge part of me. My nationality. Entering the Florida State University through the CARE program, one of the criteria I met for the program was being an immigrant. Thus, I left it there as it was a part of what made me a Seminole.
